How to Replace an audi key replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain. However, the code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are various pins on the connector, and each one has different functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant reduction in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. When I crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stay shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I assume that the problem is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The Car key replacement audi will start when the G28 is not plugged in and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I believe that I've all other possibilities out. I'm worried that i might have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and audi q3 key key Blade (voprosi-otveti.ru) works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. It is simple to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of fuel injectors, etc. To accomplish this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could lead to an engine shut down.

A failing G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate gearbox speed counter, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, or a misfire while in the gear. It is likely that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you notice any of these symptoms. The good thing is that they are very cheap and easy to find, especially in the case of an Bosch sensor, which is what ours are. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is an option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a myriad of issues within your vehicle. It's a vital component of your audi key blade's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is rotating. If this sensor fails, it will affect the performance of the transmission as well as the other car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU utilizes this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by examining the continuity of the sensor to the tachometer. You can also examine the continuity between pins T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should see around 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a standard part across the audi key replacement cost 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good parts could be found in wrecking yards.Peugeot-2021-New-Black.png
