How to Replace an Replacement audi a4 key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Peugeot-2021-New-Black.pngCharles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated near the edges of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU uses this information to regulate boost and fuel. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft in order to activate the spark and injectors.

happy-african-american-businessman-holding-car-key-2022-12-16-16-36-17-utc-min-scaled.jpgIf this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins, and they perform different functions however the best method to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is fully functional, it should read about 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant decrease in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector audi keys hole and when i start the engine without sparks, the three with gazoline jump out. The 4th one remains closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows an ice temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, as i believe that i've ruled out everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or from a parts store. It is simple to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector Replacement Audi Car Key (Zenwriting.Net) end facing up). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines must know the position and speed the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. To do this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you encounter a problem with either of these, audi replacement Key cost uk the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to an engine shut down.

Some of the signs of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you're in gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is likely your sensor is failing and should be replaced. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and easily accessible, especially when you're looking at the Bosch model, which is what we have. Alternately, GM's version this part would be an option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be the cause of a slew of issues with your car. It's an essential component of your replacement audi a3 key's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. When this sensor fails, it could affect the performance of the transmission as well as the other car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This is a common feature across the audi tt key replacement 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS An and 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find some good ones in wrecking yards.
