Immobiliser

The Immobiliser (or engine Immobiliser) is an integrated security system that prevents your car from starting without the use of a key. It works by comparing the digital code contained in the key fob or key with a specific code that is embedded in the vehicle's ECU. If the codes match, the ECU will start the fuel system and the ignition. If the codes don't match the fuel pump or ignition circuit will be blocked and your car won't start.

The Immobiliser is effective in preventing most thieves from using hot wires or starting your vehicle however it's not completely foolproof. Determined criminals can defeat it. It is important to take other security measures such as keeping valuables safe and avoiding leaving them in the car while you're away.

A faraday pouch is another security measure.
